Perversity Think Tank at Amazon and Other News...

2010.03.05

Supervert's new book Perversity Think Tank is now available for order from Amazon. For some reason Amazon has been slow to list the book and to show that it is in stock. However, Supervert has made the book available to Amazon, so hopefully it will start to hurtle through the supply chain soon.

Of course, you can always order the printed book directly from Supervert or download the ebook for free. See the Perversity Think Tank page for details.

Mrallex posted to YouTube a video that shows Perversity Think Tank being received and opened -- why is this more fun than an actual review?... Bookkake posted very nice pictures (1, 2, 3) of its copy of Perversity Think Tank to Flickr... Thanks to 3:AM Magazine, John Coulthart, Jan Herman, and Viviane's Sex Carnival for linking to Perversity Think Tank.

In other news...

Ballardian has a fabulous interview with Savoy Books' David Britton, author of Lord Horror. If you're a fan of Savoy, this is a must-read. If you're not, it may still be a must-read.

Alexander, who previously created a video based on the story "A New Man" from Necrophilia Variations, has posted a "New Man Remix" to YouTube.

By the way, who was the maniac who posted a copy of Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish to ebay and asked $1000 for it?

Perversity Think Tank

2010.02.14

Supervert is pleased to announce the publication of its third book, Perversity Think Tank.

Perversity Think Tank attempts to formulate a philosophical conception of perversion. It is not a dry work of theory but a genre fuck of philosophy, sex, art, and literature. The book emerges in part from the years of research and thought presented on PervScan. However, it is not a "book of the blog" or anthology of entries but an entirely new, independent work.

The ebook of Perversity Think Tank is available for free download and the printed book can be ordered directly from Supervert. The physical book will also be available from Amazon and other distributors soon.

Because Perversity Think Tank is a culminating effort, PervScan will cease operation effective immediately. For more information, read the final post on PervScan.

A New Man

2010.02.08

A video based on the story "A New Man" from Necrophilia Variations has been uploaded to YouTube. It was directed by Alexander, whom you may remember as the author of a Maldoror-style book called Fragmentary Annihilation, and features Tony Galtieri. The video describes itself as the "interior monologue of a man comprehending his unpopular fetish."

To honor the occasion, Supervert is also posting the full text to the story "A New Man." Enjoy them both and stay tuned for next week's book announcement.

A Thoughtful Review of Necrophilia Variations

2010.02.06

I Read Odd Books has written a review of Necrophilia Variations: "Finally! A book that I consider eros and thanatos. All the books recommended to me as being eros and thanatos were all thanatos and no eros. Or the eros was so bizarre that I had no chance of relating to it. I am thrilled to finally read a book that contains both to equal degrees..."

Thank you I Read Odd Books for this especially thoughtful take on the book.

Will You Be My Valentine?

2010.02.04

Supervert will announce the publication of its new book on 14 February 2010.

Eros Blog recently wrote a very nice review of Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish: "There's a lot for many people in this strange book..." See the ETSF reviews page for more.

Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish is also mentioned in Mark Dery's essay "Paradise Lust: Pornotopia Meets the Culture Wars," which is included in C'Lick Me: A NetPorn Studies Reader, edited by Katrien Jacobs, Marije Janssen, and Matteo Pasquinelli.

The book The Art and Science of Interface and Interaction Design, edited by Christa Sommerer, Lakhmi C. Jain, and Laurent Mignonneau, mentions Necro Enema Amalgamated's "interactivity is a lie" mantra in the context of BLAM! 3. It is gratifying to see that, though the CD-ROM had a brief existence as a medium, NEA's work continues to be recognized for its innovative -- and cynical -- approach to interface design.

MagStars posted a "deviation" to DeviantArt that features a line from Necrophilia Variations.

Michael Stevens posted a picture of his bookshelf to Flickr. It shows Supervert's books sitting in some very distinguished company that includes a book signed by Philip K. Dick. There will be a new book to add to that shelf on Valentine's Day.

MMX

2010.01.01

Congratulations to the winners of Supervert's annual book giveaway. If you enjoy your book, please consider showing your appreciation by reviewing it, blogging about it, twittering about it, linking to Supervert, etc. Thank you.

Necro Enema Amalgamated, Supervert's multimedia collaboration with Swensonia, was featured multiple times in Edward Shanken's impressive tome Art and Electronic Media, published by Phaidon. At Supervert's Flickr account, you can view a page featuring two screens from the BLAM! 1 CD-ROM and another page reproducing the Necro Enema Amalgamated Agenda, a manifesto which you can also read here on supervert.com.

Vanity aside, Professor Shanken's book will quite probably be the definitive work on the subject of art and electronic media for years to come. It is also a beautifully produced book. If the subject interests you, you'll want a copy for your library.

Supervert's resolution for the new year is to make more active use of the Twitter account it has had since 2007. Feel free to follow Supervert on Twitter for micro-doses of vanguard aesthetics and novel pathologies.

Finally, Supervert will be announcing the publication of a new book -- soon, soon...

Supervert does not make porn but the pervy nature of its work leads people to look for it here. So if you want babes or whatever, this is good porn.
