Annual Holiday Contest

2003.12.01

In honor of the winter holidays, Supervert will give away a prize a day — you can choose either Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish or the BLAM! 1 CD-ROM — for the entire month of December! Just submit an email address to enter the contest now! (Sorry, the contest is over.)

More Sade and ETSF Book Club

2003.11.01

Supervert has digitized another text by the Marquis de Sade that was not previously available in electronic format. It's a humorous short story called Retaliation, and you can download it in the Sade eLibrary.

DJ Jessie Jessup has selected Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish as the current feature (from 18 Oct to 18 Nov) on her popular book club on radio station KDGE in Texas. This is a real privilege to be featured on the show and Supervert would like to thank Ms. Jessup for her enthusiasm for ETSF. (If you're not familiar with her book club, there's a nice feature story at Publisher's Weekly.)

Finally, there is a new pick this month: David Cronenberg's Collected Screenplays.

Black Acres

2003.10.01

Supervert adds a new site to its portfolio of web properties: BlackAcres.net. Built in collaboration with Chris Black (who will maintain the site while Supervert hosts it), BlackAcres.net is essentially a fan site for the band Elysian Fields. Founded by chanteuse Jennifer Charles and guitarist extraordinaire Oren Bloedow, Elysian Fields is a college-radio favorite with deep ties to New York's experimental music scene (John Zorn, Foetus, Lounge Lizards, etc.).

Supervert plans to add several more sites to its portfolio in the coming year or so. They will not all be as pervy as PervScan.com, though hopefully sites such as BlackAcres.net will give you a broader view of the Supervert agenda.

Meanwhile — Versus Press has selected Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish as its "Cult Pick" book of Fall 2003.

Web Press and Whatnot

2003.09.01

A forum at suicidegirls.com held a very interesting discussion of Supervert's Sexual Perversity Survey. Thanks, girls!

Disinfo.com featured Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish this last month. And weirdly, ETSF is now available via megastore Target's web site, but in the "Religion & Spirituality" section. That might be an eye-opener for some New Age browser...

Finally, there is also a new Supervert pick: Steven Shainberg's film Secretary.

Sexual Perversity Survey

2003.08.01

Supervert has posted a new survey, the Sexual Perversity Survey, a detailed foray into sexual pathology and deviant behavior.

There is also a new Supervert pick: Mr Swenson's deranged disk, The Sensuous Man.

Georges Bataille eLibrary

2003.07.01

Another author has been added to the Supervert Electronic Library: Georges Bataille. Story of the Eye has been floating around the web for a while, but The Use Value of D.A.F. de Sade and The Cruel Practice of Art are Supervert exclusives!

Thanks are due to photographer Hans Neleman for the new pictures of Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish, which capture the difficult-to-photograph white-on-white laminated cover. Mr. Neleman — who has achieved acclaim for his stylized photography and for his recent book on Moko-Maori tattoo culture — has a new work coming out called Night Chicas, an uncompromising photographic exploration of the sordid underworld of Latin American prostitution.

Supervert Launches New Site: PervScan.com

2003.06.01

Supervert has taken the PervScan section that resided here for a few weeks and transformed it into its own web site: PervScan.com. There you can read all the news from the world of perversion — er, no — all the perversion from the news of the world, filtered and commentated by Supervert! You can also shop for pervy books in Supervert's PervScan Bookstore.

Sometime this month Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish will be available at the lovely and eclectic bookstore Spoonbill & Sugartown, in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, New York.

Site Makeover, Supervert Interview

2003.05.01

Supervert.com has been redesigned from the ground up. There are several new content areas: Supervert Picks, which features monthly recommendations of literature, film, and art; the Supervert PervScan, a compendium of headlines featuring weird fetishes that make the news; and finally the Supervert Forum — now if you have something to say about Supervert, don't send long ranting emails, say it on the Supervert Forum and let others read it as well.

There are a review of Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish and an interview with Supervert in the new issue of Backwash, the brilliant zine published by Marc Hartzmann (author of the totally fun book Found on eBay: 101 Genuinely Bizarre Items from the World's Online Yard Sale).

Supervert.com was rediscovered by a bunch of bloggers this last month, who seem particularly to like Sex Lingo and Shockometer. As a result, in the month of April alone supervert.com had half a million hits from almost fifty thousand individual visitors!

John Currin's Nudes

2003.04.01

The full text of Supervert's essay on John Currin, Currin's Nudes, which was published last fall in Parkett Magazine, is now online!

Watch for a big update next month!

Interview and ETSF Review

2003.03.01

Taint Magazine has just posted an exclusive interview with Supervert which "will leave you wanting to know more about sex with aliens and how you too can shed your singular identity and become a brand name, available in six packs."

Headpress reviews Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish in its new "Powered by Love" issue, speaking of the book's "stylized, slightly robotic prose" and the "rare treat" readers may derive from "descriptions of exophiliac copulations." (Headpress isn't always easy to find in the U.S. Try ordering it from amazon.com.)

Supervert Computer Sex Survey

2003.02.01

This month, Supervert introduces another new content category — not your typical one-question web polls, but rather in-depth surveys probing the psychopathology of our visitors. Take Supervert's Computer Sex Survey now!

The author who reviewed Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish for Clamor Magazine has now posted the review on his web site.

Thomas De Quincey eLibrary

2003.01.01

A new author has been added to the Supervert electronic library: Thomas De Quincey. Though the Confessions of an English Opium Eater has been available elsewhere on the web, On Murder Considered as One of the Fine Arts and The Literature of Knowledge and the Literature of Power are Supervert exclusives!

Supervert recently discovered a hitherto lost and forgotten text by one of its favorite authors, Gustav Hasford (author of the book The Short-Timers, which Stanley Kubrick made into the film Full Metal Jacket). The newly discovered text, "Black Roses," happens to be about necrophilia — an appropriately superverse subject — so Supervert digitized it and volunteered it to the site run by Hasford's cousin.

Finally, congratulations to December's contest winners. You know who you are!

Good Porn

Supervert does not make porn but the pervy nature of its work leads people to look for it here. So if you want babes or whatever, this is good porn.
