Statement by the Case Historian
"If you're easily offended, then this book is not for you. Parts of this novel are extremely graphic and vile... Still, you have to admire the sheer audacity of this literary project. Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish is a bizarre but mostly satisfying work of literary lunacy." The Weekly Alibi
"This is a crazy cyber paranormal sex book..." Exquisite Corpse
"There is much dark humor throughout the text, which brings to mind Burroughs or Cronenberg... A lot of people might turn away because of the unorthodox sexual content here, but it's a thought-provoking and interesting work." Zombiegirls.net

Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish Sample
For a long time Supervert hesitated to put a sample chapter of Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish (ETSF) online. This was not because of a lack of confidence in the book. Why go through the enormous effort and expense of publishing a book if it isn't a good one? To the contrary, Supervert remains very proud of Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish. If there has been any reticence to put a sample chapter online, it's because ETSF was intended to be a true book something with tactile qualities, weight, texture, and something that you read very differently than the sort of texts you read on the internet.
To write for the internet is a different game than writing for print. Online the ideal is the short paragraph with the concise point. Internet readers tend not to dawdle. Web analysis software measures the amount of time readers spend on a page in seconds. How can a true book one with long, exploratory paragraphs; one with a rigorous macroscopic structure; one that asks to be read with the same commitment with which an astronaut undertakes a solitary spaceflight possibly hold up under such circumstances? It's like saying you could read Ulysses on the back of a restaurant menu or Crime and Punishment on subway advertisements.
Ironically, though it's said that you can't judge a book by its cover, the exact same conundrum is expressed by ETSF's physical appearance. No one who sees the book fails to be impressed by its design. In particular, the cover was printed using a white-on-white gloss effect that makes the book look vaguely spermy. But how do you convey that online? How do you convey that in pictures? Supervert even begged a favor from a first-class photographer in an effort to get reproductions that show the book to advantage, and still all you end up with is a sort of gray-on-gray approximation. Blech.
For those reasons, Supervert has hesitated to put an excerpt from Extraterrestrial Sex Fetish on supervert.com. Why show it to disadvantage? However, people have been asking for a sample chapter, so Supervert has decided to give it a try. Apparently the reasoning is that it's better to show it even at a disadvantage than to fail to show it at all.
ETSF was written in twenty-four sets of interleaved texts, prefaced by an overview and followed by two appendices. The sample texts that follow are the four that make up the first set and the final appendix. Hopefully these will give you some sense of the book and if not, then please consider buying it.
